Georgia Hayley

REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

Georgia Hayley (she/her) studied a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Clinical Psychology at Griffith University, Gold Coast. Georgia is interested in working with paediatric clients and their families through anxiety, grief and loss and adjustment-related difficulties. She is passionate about neuro-affirming support and enabling equitable and inclusive access to healthcare.

Georgia has experience working in rural and remote health care, having worked as the paediatric psychologist at the Cairns Hospital to support children with chronic health conditions and related mental health and adjustment difficulties. She is a culturally competent practitioner who has experience working with First Nations populations and creating cultural safety in practice. Georgia is currently working in paediatrics at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Georgia has experience in clinical research with the Childhood Anxiety Disorders Research Program, including delivering assessment and treatment for paediatric anxiety. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (including exposure therapy) and is able to incorporate principles from various modalities into treatment, including mindfulness, acceptance, distress tolerance and emotion regulation skills.

Georgia is passionate about education in mental health care. She uses education to support families to understand their children’s neurodivergence and mental health differences to empower positive change. Georgia is interested in the role of language and communication in enabling therapeutic change, and has completed research exploring the role of communication skills in individuals on the autism spectrum.

Georgia has an empathic and strengths-based approach to therapy. Her approach is individualised and evidence-based, focused on building a positive, safe environment to make change. Georgia enjoys finding creative ways to support children in engaging in therapy.
