Body Dysmorphic Disorder in Children and Adolescents: Webinar for Health Professionals

A$75.00

The Centre for Anxiety and OCD is excited to present an online webinar for health professionals: Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in Children and Adolescents.

BDD is a debilitating mental health condition that is under-recognised and under-treated. In adolescents, the disorder is associated with severe impairments in functioning, as well as high rates of suicidal ideation and attempts. Greater awareness of BDD among health professionals is much needed.

The 90-minute webinar will provide an overview of BDD in youth, the cognitive-behavioural formulation of BDD, how to screen and assess for BDD in clinical practice, and an overview of current evidence-based treatment approaches for young people with BDD.

The training is suitable for health professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, cosmetic health practitioners (e.g., plastic surgeons, dermatologists), social workers, counsellors, occupational therapists, and guidance officers.

The webinar is presented by clinical psychologists Dr Jacinda Cadman and Cassie Lavell. Jacinda has worked extensively with children and adolescents with BDD, including through her previous role at the Maudsley Hospital in London, within the National and Specialist OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service. Cassie is currently completing her PhD at Macquarie University investigating risk factors and treatment approaches for treating adolescents with BDD, and has worked with many clients with BDD in her private practice.
