Event Information:
When: Tuesday 21st October 2025
Time: 9am - 4pm (AEST Time)
Location: Zoom
Presenter: Dr Cassie Lavell

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) affects approximately 2% of children and adolescents, yet it is often underdiagnosed and undertreated. Many therapists express a lack of training in delivering CBT for OCD, and families often have difficulty finding a therapist confident to treat their child’s symptoms.

This 1-day online workshop aims to increase therapists’ confidence in assessing and treating OCD in children and adolescents. The workshop will be presented by clinical psychologist and CAO co-director, Dr Cassie Lavell

Dr Lavell is has extensive experience assessing and treating OCD in young people. She is also an experienced trainer, having delivered workshops and supervision in the area of OCD, anxiety and related disorders.

Attendees of the workshop will develop an understanding of:

  • The clinical phenomenology and theoretical formulation of paediatric OCD

  • How to conduct an evidence-based assessment for OCD in young people

  • How to differentiate OCD from other forms of repetitive behaviour (e.g., stims and tics)

  • The current evidence-base for CBT with ERP (including its limitations)

  • How to deliver OCD psychoeducation to engage families in treatment

  • How to conduct ERP with children and adolescents and maximise outcomes

  • How to adapt ERP when working with neurodivergent young people (e.g., Autistic kids and ADHDers)

  • How to deliver OCD relapse prevention planning

Attendees will develop practical assessment and treatment skills via case studies, group discussion and demonstration of techniques through role-plays. The workshop is suitable for therapists working with children and adolescents including psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and counsellors.

Cost:
General: $300 incl GST
Early Bird: $275 incl GST (ends August 15th 2025)

A 6hr CPD certificate will be provided to attendees of the workshop.
